Yes, and the learning curve can be steep! But I've found that such unexpected transitions end up being for the best. It's hard to see that when you're in the midst of something like a layoff or—like you—leaving a job because you're really unhappy. What I realized about myself was that I needed a push to move on to the next thing. For me, it was getting laid off. I admire the courage you had to make the decision to leave.
